Nystagmus
Nystagmus is characterized by uncontrollable, constant movement and flickering of the eyes, occurring either from side to side, up and down, in circular motions, or a combination thereof, significantly impacting visual clarity. Infantile Nystagmus, appearing in the first weeks or months of life, stems from improper development or damage to the eyes or related brain areas. Symptoms include variable vision, difficulty seeing detail beyond a meter, challenges focusing on objects, reduced speed and depth perception affecting balance and mobility, and sensitivity to glare, particularly problematic in conjunction with albinism. While there is no cure or correction through glasses or lenses, with appropriate support, children with Nystagmus can lead fulfilling and independent lives.
